Workshop Summary
Track: How We Move & Where We Live
How integrated, affordable transit fares advance affordable housing. A new regional fare study is recommending “go anywhere” transit passes for organizations including affordable housing developments. Some affordable housing developments currently provide transit passes to support mobility for residents, and alleviate concerns about car traffic. However, transit passes currently provide access to only one agency, limiting residents’ mobility and opportunity, and increasing the need for vehicles. Approval and rollout of the “Go Anywhere” transit pass program would provide residents with better, more affordable mobility, encourage the acceptance of affordable housing developments, and help developments rightsize parking and provide more homes.
